They do exactly that, and you even quoted it: "A single introduced land snail species eliminated all the native snails of Tahiti."
The affected snails were the genus Partula, while the introduced ones were of genus Euglandina. See Unenchanted Evening in S.J.Gould's Eight little piggies.
