Summary

Two American Toads, Bufo americanus, the larger female on the bottom, the smaller male on top, mate in a shallow catchwater basin at Montezuma Audubon Center north of Savannah, New York. As the female extrudes a string of gelatin-covered eggs, the male releases sperm. This ritual is repeated every April.
