1. This is only a problem for creationists who cannot imagine long time spans. Thick deposits with numerous beds are consistent with cyclical sea transgression/regressions. They can also form in sinking basins which have had no outlet over geological time.

Some uniformitarian geologist have noticed this problem. The problem is that the building of such thick layers of salt by the "consistent with cyclical sea transgression/regressions" imagined by Talk Origins would produce layers that show clear evidence of being in the open for a time, such as alternating dirt layers. Alternating dirt layers would not be fatal to the precipitation model, but their lack is fatal to the evaporation model.
