Response Article
This article (Do you want to be descended from a monkey? (Talk.Origins)) is a response to a rebuttal of a creationist claim published by Talk.Origins Archive under the title Index to Creationist Claims.

Claim CA640: Evolution says you are descended from a monkey. Do you want to be descended from a monkey?

Source: Moon, Rev. Sun Myung. 1976 (7 Mar.).The central figure and the transitional period

CreationWiki response:

Talk.Origins is really scraping the bottom of the barrel for this one. The statement made by Rev Sun Myung Moon wasn't meant to be a argument, so this is clearly a straw man.

Note: Rev Sun Myung Moon is not a Biblical creationist but is very close to being a New Ager.

2: What is wrong with being related to a monkey? In Yoruba tradition, it is believed that twins are descended directly from monkeys, and twins are considered good fortune (Courlander 1996, 233-238). Being related to a monkey does not make you a monkey. It does not make you any different from what you are.

A) What Yoruba tradition says is irrelevant, since it is not part of the tradition of the church.

B) The problem with having humanity descending from apes is that it would strongly imply that we are animals too. That would mean it would be OK to cheat and lie as long as it doesn’t effect the social structure.

It is also contrary to the evidence and the Bible.
