The Purple Emperor Butterfly is a high flying rare and beautiful butterfly. Flying high across forest canopies the Purple Emperor can be found in the woodoaklands of Europe, Russia, and Scandinavia. Rarely seen and very secretive, these large purple and blue butterflies are the largest of the British woodland Butterflies and are at first only seen to be a dull brown or grey color but when flying through the skies and when the sun shines across its wings, a purple iridescent color shines bright.
